If you know the band Paradise Fears (if you don’t you should look them up!) you will know of the Keyboardist Michael Walker. In the past year he has worked endlessly for his solo tour and his first solo album The Shift.
In order to debut his album he chose to take a unique approach in order to get his music out to his fans, he is doing a house tour. A house tour means fans pay a fee for the artist or band in order to have a private in home concert. Last night (6/13/16) he played for my friends and I and it was pretty spectacular.
We decided to do a laid back concert outside around a fire, our night was filled with S’mores, BBQ and a lot of shenanigans.
What do you do on your Monday nights?
I go to a lot of concerts and other then my friends who are musically inclined practicing when we hang out, I have never been to a home show. It was a very unique experience, we actually got to know Michael and in total the show was a more intimate experience for us all.
Unfortunately, because we had a concert outside our pictures came out very dark so I do not have very many of him playing that are clear.
We had fairy lights everywhere outside but they are not good for taking pictures.
You may be asking how I was able to swing this and have a private concert or how I was able to sign up for this. To be perfectly honest it was a random stroke of luck. It was another one of those moments where I couldn’t believe that is happened. I had commented on a post he had on his Facebook account and the next day I got a private message on Facebook from him asking if I would like a show. I did what any sane person would do when receiving a message with an offer for a private show from a member of a band. I screamed.
He was trying to prove he was actually who he said he is
I also cried and called two of my friends freaking out. (Love you mean it guys!) The initial shock probably freaked my friends out more then anything else and probably because I was as hyper as a toddler during a sugar high. After getting more information I got more and more excited but I also got skeptical. I did not believe that he messaged me and I asked him to prove that he was actual who he said he was. The show Catfish has taught me to be wary of people on the internet. I got these two pictures in return.
Michael and his Fiance Jen, they are adorable!
I only believed him after I saw his fiance in the picture and he told me to tell him how to pose. I began planning immediately and it paid off, my friends and I had a night we will never forget, we made new friends and we had S’more. Nothing beats S’mores, music and friends.
I was also lucky enough to be able to join the Inner Circle for the Mj Walker fan group. This is another first for me, I usually do not join fan groups because they can sometime be very catty. I was welcomed into a warm group and the Inner Circle community is very supportive of each other.
